Abstract

|
From the submerged culture of the mycelium of Pleurotus pulmonarius, a protein-bound polysaccharide fraction was obtained by ethanol precipitation. It showed antitumor activity against sarcoma 180 implanted in ICR mice. The inhibition ratio of this fraction was 52.6% when it was administered i.p., at the dose of 20㎎/㎏/day for the period of ten days. This fraction was subjected to DEAE-Sephadex ion exchange chromatography. The fraction which was adsorbed on DEAE-Sephadex A-50 was separated into two components and these were found to be inactive against the tumor. The fraction which was not adsorbed showed antitumor activity. Further purification of the antitumor component from this non-adsorbed fraction was achieved by gel fltration on Sephadex G-200. Three components were isolated from this fraction.
